Root Karbunkulus
First-time author Kamilla Reid was determined to make her mark in the literary world. Her debut novel ‘The Questory of Root Karbunkulus’ is the first in what she hopes will be a successful series. 350 Designs helped Kamilla make herself known to readers with a highly interactive, entertaining site with tons of exciting features.
Challenge
Breaking into the writing world can be a difficult task for new authors. However, Kamilla was very open to trying new approaches to gain readership. She came to 350 Designs looking for entirely original branding, print marketing, and a feature-rich website that would be capable of garnering some major attention.
Solution
350 Designs was able to provide Kamilla Reid with an engaging, original flash-based website. The newly created site features video clips, news articles, and a slew of downloads available for fans. An updatable “author’s blog” was also created specifically for Kamilla. In addition, 350 Designs also created a unique MySpace page for fans to interact with the book’s main character, Root Karbunkulus.
Result
Kamilla’s new site has made her one of the ‘rising stars of the new web’ (first penned by Jeff Bertolucci of PC World Magazine). Since launching the site, her novel has been featured in the Washington Post, she has been interviewed on a number of TV programs, and her book trailer (featured on the website) has won a New Covey Trail award for ‘Best Author-Made Book Video’. As of this point, the publicity gained by her new web presence has increased sales exponentially.
